Ark
My final project at university visualises an urban market and recreation space for users of Auckland's urban space.
A film’s disposition is derived
from fundamentally the
stacking of cuts and scenes
where characters interact and
evolve within. a timeline gives
these stacked cuts
chronological sense, tying
facets of story-line and
characters together to create
intrinsic plot narrative action.
Fort Lane acts as its own scene
wedged into Auckland City’s
urban narrative. performing as
Auckland’s foreshore in the
1800’s, the land and that around
it was developed into a major
trade and merchant hub between
Pakeha and Maori, thanks to
being the centre in a network of
waterways, and fostering fertile
volcanic soil for crops.
ricocheting these ideals of
trade, a marketplace proposal
re-invigorates traditional uses
of the land, and inspires
newfound moments of exchange
between characters from the
plot of Tamaki Makaurau. a
vessel for trading space in a
contained place, an ark hosts
these festivities of exchange and
interaction.
